Overall, the UK’s lowest ranking university was University of Wolverhampton in 1,968th, claiming a total score of 66.1 out of 100. It was only narrowly beaten by New Cross’ Goldsmiths University in 1,727th place. The East London uni was followed by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (208th), LSE (327th), Royal Holloway (552nd), Brunel University London (584th), Institute of Cancer Research, University of London (630th), St George's, University of London (645th), and Birkbeck, University of London (747th).Īt the lower end of the Global 2000 list, you’ll find the lowest ranking London uni - University of Westminster - in 1,775th. University College London was officially the best ranking London institution, coming in a respectable 19th in the world. There were a total of 93 UK universities on the Global 2000.
The USA managed to claim the top three positions with Harvard University (first), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (second) and Stanford University (third), just before the likes of the University of Cambridge (fourth) and University of Oxford (fifth) cementing their reputation as the best UK universities in the world.
They looked at 20,531 global institutions, with those placing at the top making the Global 2000 list.
Twenty one London universities managed to bag themselves a place on the highly coveted Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) for 2023.
